Inspiring children
with school holiday painting sessions
22 March 2007
As school holidays approach it is time to think again
about how to keep the younger members of the family entertained, amused
and inspired.
Following the success of our Kidz Painting Academy
workshops over the recent half-term holiday, The Clay Studio will be
running four further sessions during the forthcoming holidays. Two new
workshops are Fun with Bumpy Doodles and Three Ways with Coasters. These
run on 5 April & 12 April for the former and 6 & 13 April for the
latter. Each session will teach some simple techniques for pottery
painting and the children can collect their masterpieces within a week.
For just £12 the children receive pottery items to paint
and a certificate to take home with them along with tuition from trained
Clay Studio staff. They will learn something, have a painted masterpiece
to show for their efforts and have a great time. What’s more, mum and
dad can go shopping or enjoy a coffee in The Clay Studio Café. Places in
the Kidz Painting Academy are available on a first-come, first-served
basis and so advanced booking is advised.
Kidz Painting Academy courses also run on Sunday mornings
(Little Painters 6-10) and Sunday afternoons (Young Artists 11-16). Each
week is a different module that teaches a specific painting technique.
This allows the children to build a portfolio of simple but highly
effective skills.
The Clay Studio in Christchurch is open seven days each
week and has a new range of unpainted pottery or bisque to help amuse
and stimulate our younger visitors. This includes new money boxes to
help them save their pennies, decorative items as well as functional
pottery such as plates and mugs that allows them to exercise their
creativity. It is not necessary to have any artistic skills.
The Clay Studio is a contemporary pottery painting
studio, offering visitors the opportunity to paint their own pottery and
learn different painting and decorative effects through the Painting
Academy and by having trained staff always on-hand. Alongside the
painting is The Clay Studio Café which offers snacks and beverages,
sourced, wherever possible, from local Dorset and Hampshire producers.
