The Painting Academy
opens at The Clay Studio in Christchurch
5 January 2007
How easy is it to
paint beautiful pottery? It is very simple if you know the different
techniques that are available. The Clay Studio’s Painting Academy runs
its first six-week course from 30 January 2007 to help bring out the
artist in you.
No previous
experience is necessary and you do not need to have any artistic skills,
just a willingness to learn, experiment and have a good time. The
Painting Academy workshops last for two hours on Tuesday evenings with
each session dedicated to a particular technique used on a specific
piece of bisque (unpainted pottery). At the end of the six-week course,
you will have the basic skills to paint beautiful pottery and astound
your friends and family. Moreover, you will have six pieces of painted
pottery to take home with you.
The Painting
Academy’s Introduction to Ceramics runs from 7-9pm on Tuesday evenings
for six weeks from 30 January 2007. Places on the course are limited so
early booking is advisable. The cost of the course is £45 and there is a
25% discount on the price of the bisque that is used each week.
The Clay Studio will
be announcing further Painting Academy courses and one-off workshops as
well as painting workshops for children. These dates will be announced
on The Clay Studio Web site (www.theclaystudio.co.uk),
in the monthly Clay Times newsletter and details will be available at
The Clay Studio.
The Clay Studio is a
contemporary pottery painting studio, offering visitors the opportunity
to paint their own pottery and learn different painting and decorative
effects through the Painting Academy and by having trained staff always
on-hand. Alongside the painting is The Clay Studio Café which offers
snacks and beverages, sourced, wherever possible, from local Dorset and
Hampshire producers.
